Concern for missing woman mounting

MANATEE — Concern continues to grow today for a young mother who has not been seen since Monday morning, according to Manatee County Sheriff’s Office officials.

Nayeli Torrez, 22, a mother of two young children, has not been seen since 3 a.m. Monday, and her sister reported her missing at 6 p.m. the same day, according to sheriff’s reports.

“We are very concerned for her welfare,” said sheriff’s spokesman Dave Bristow. “It is totally out of character to leave her kids and not tell anyone where she is going.”

Bristow said detectives are investigating several leads, but there still has not been any sign of Torrez.

Torrez’s sister told detectives her sister came home from work, and went to sleep. When the sister awoke, Torrez was gone and she reported her missing when she did not return throughout the day.

Torrez is decribed as 5 feet, 2 inches tall and weighs 130 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information on the whereabout of Torrez can call the sheriff’s office at 747-3011, or Crimestoppers at (866) 634-TIPS.
