Serial rapist still on the loose
Friday, October 30, 2009 | 10:54 PM HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Police are talking publicly about information they've never released before in the search for a man who has been targeting women and sexually assaulting them in their apartments. If it wasn't bad enough that a serial rapist is on the loose in her neighborhood, then hearing what he wore during his latest attack has Kate Dawson that much more afraid. "It's even scarier that he could be a medical professional and be dealing with patients every day," said Dawson. Houston police confirm that the man responsible for beating and sexually assaulting three women in their southwest Houston apartments was wearing medical scrubs when he attacked his last victim. Although investigators don't know at this time whether it was part of a work uniform or simply clothes he found, that bit of information has people living here on high alert. "People should still be aware that they need to be careful and they shouldn't just assume that just because they are wearing scrubs that they're going to be a safe, professional person," said resident Patricia Tan. The attacks, which first began in early June, have all occurred within blocks of the Medical Center. In each of the cases, the victims have been home alone with the suspect getting in through an unlocked door. Investigators say they have visited area hospitals to follow up on the clothing lead, but so far nothing has panned out. While police aren't sure how much a lead the medical scrubs are, some residents are glad to know a little more about the suspect. "I think it at least helps for people to be wary of even things that they're used to, so for people that walk by, and even if you're used to seeing someone in scrubs go by every day, you still need to be cautious," said resident Chris Singh. Police have taken DNA samples from 20 different men as they try to solve the case. http://abclocal.go.com/ktrk/story?se...cal&id=7092800 |

Any one can purchase medical scrubs so it doesn't mean this person does work in the medical profession. I pray they find him soon, so many are afraid because they aren't safe behind locked doors in their own homes.

There are several serial rapist in the Houston area. The following (2) are in addition to the one reported by TigressPen!
http://abclocal.go.com/ktrk/story?se...cal&id=7088512 HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Someone is attacking and raping elderly women in four different counties northwest of Houston. Police said it has happened at least nine times. Some Centerville residents are on the lookout for a man who is attacking and raping elderly women in the middle of the night. The attacker has struck three times in Leon County, and twice in Lavaca, Bell and Falls counties. The man tried to add another victim to his spree on Saturday, police said. He broke into a home and tried to attack an 88-year-old woman. She woke up, confronted him and chased him outside with a handgun. "She went into the survival mode -- right off," said Leon County Sheriff Jerry Wakefield. "She came up out of bed, and that's probably what saved her." So far, police have hit a dead-end trying to get a description of the man. "No description at all of the suspect," Wakefield said. They do know he confronts the victims while they are asleep -- between 4-6am -- after cutting the phone lines outside the victim's home. The victims are all women between the ages of 75 and 95. Monday night in Centerville, the Leon County Sheriff's Office will hold a public meeting to talk about the attacks. http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/...n/6682365.html ![]() Houston police have released a sketch of a man suspected of committing at least three sexual assaults this year at higher-end apartment complexes in southwest Houston. The first occurred around 2:55 a.m. on June 6 in the 8300 block of El Mundo, the next at about 4:45 a.m. on Oct. 1 in the 1800 block of El Paseo and the latest around 8 a.m. on Oct. 16 in the 8100 block of Cambridge. Each time, the women who were attacked were home alone, and at least twice the rapist entered through an open door, and the third apartment also had no signs of forced entry. The attacker is described as a black man possibly in his early 40s, about 6 feet tall and between 200 pounds and 240 pounds.

I'm glad the woman chased him away with a handgun. Too bad she didn't shoot him.

DNA links fourth crime to serial rapist
Posted: Nov 02, 2009 5:34 PM EST by Patrick Tolbert MARLIN - The serial rapist who has been terrorizing elderly women in Central Texas has officially been linked to an attack in Falls County. Falls County Sheriff Ben Kirk announced Monday that DNA gathered from the October 10th home invasion and sexual assault in a home just outside of Marlin matches that of the suspected Serial Rapist. Kirk says the crime committed in his county can now be linked to similar assaults in Bell, Lavaca and Leon Counties. "Area residents are urged to be especially observant and take precautions to secure their homes. They should consider leaving additional lighting on at night and make certain that their homes, garages and vehicles are securely locked," Kirk said. http://www.kxxv.com/Global/story.asp?S=11429434
