Default Body found in Mississippi River

ST. PAUL, Minn.

Authorities have pulled a body from the Mississippi River, near an area where they were searching for a missing St. Paul teenager.

The body was found Tuesday near the Ford plant in St. Paul.

Police say the body is too badly decomposed to immediately determine if it is that of 17-year-old Joey Kaiser. Kaiser disappeared in May after leaving his house in a "manic state."

The Ramsey County medical examiner's office is working on identifying the remains.

Thanks for that info tlc...so sorry for the family, but if it were me, the not knowing would be worse. Thoughts are with them now.

Pioneer Press (St. Paul, Minnesota)
August 20, 2008 Wednesday

BRIEF: ID of body pulled from river may take two weeks
Aug. 20--DNA will be used to try to identify a body found Tuesday in the Mississippi River in St. Paul, and it could take up to two weeks to get results, police said today.

Because of the level of decomposition, the person's gender wasn't immediately known, said Peter Panos, St. Paul police spokesman.

The Ramsey County medical examiner's office is conducting an autopsy.

The body was spotted Tuesday morning by the Hennepin County sheriff's office water patrol, and St. Paul firefighters pulled it from the water near the Ford Motor Co. plant.

Police will be checking whether the person had been reported missing. As of this morning, there were 89 open cases of missing and runaway adults and teens in St. Paul, said Cmdr. Paul Iovino, who heads the missing persons unit.

I am so sorry. My condolences to everyone of Joey's family and friends.

Default Obituary for Joey Kaiser

http://www.legacy.com/startribune/ob...=SEARCHRESULTS

This was in the Star Tribune for the Minneapolis-St.Paul, Minnesota Area.
The date for the obituary is 8/24/08.

I didn't see a public announcement that the body they had found was Joey's, but obviously it was.

I am not sure why this was posted in the paper today, but here it is>>

Body found in Mississippi is St. Paul teen

Article Last Updated: 10/23/2008 06:58:19 AM CDT

ST. PAUL, Minn.—St. Paul police say a body found in the Mississippi River is that of a teenager missing since May.
Police spokesman Peter Panos says no foul play is suspected in the death of 17-year-old Joey Kaiser.

Kaiser left his St. Paul home on May 20 on a bike with one pedal. Three days after Kaiser disappeared, police found his bike at the base of a path leading to the Mississippi River bluffs, a few blocks from his home.

Kaiser's body was pulled from the river, near the Ford Motor Co. plant, in August. Police used DNA to make the identification.
