Union County authorities search for missing teen 4:02 PM

MONROE, N.C. -- Union County authorities are searching for a 16-year-old girl who has been missing since Monday.

According to the Union County Sheriff's Office, Vasti Gutierrez may be with her ex-boyfriend, Dejuan Bennett. Police said Bennett also goes by the name Juan Carlos.

Gutierrez's family reported her missing after she left Forest Hills High School early on Monday.

Gutierrez has black hair, brown eyes, is 5 feet 1 inch tall and weighs about 110 pounds. She was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, Capri blue jeans and black shoes. Family members say she has a scar on the left side of her face.

Search continues for missing teen

The search for a 16-year-old Union County girl continued Friday, but a detective says sheriff's deputies are running out of leads.

Vasti Colmenares Gutierrez was last seen in first or second period classes Monday at Forest Hills High School in Marshville, where she was a student, according to the Union County Sheriff's Office.

"We've exhausted a lot (of leads) -- I won't say we had promising leads to start with," Sheriff's Lt. Robert Rollins said. "We're kind of hoping we have a lucky break right now."

Gutierrez's family have told detectives she may be with an ex-boyfriend, a Hispanic man who goes by the name Dejuan Bennett, Rollins said. But deputies say Bennett might be an alias, and the man -- about 23 and from Marshville -- also might use the name Juan Carlos. 'Juan Carlos' is believed to be a variation of the man's real name, Rollins said.

"We're assuming she left school voluntarily with him," Rollins said. But he added that investigators are concerned that Gutierrez may be in danger "based on the fact that she hasn't been seen in four days."

Vasti is Hispanic, with black hair and brown eyes. She is 5 feet 1 and 110 pounds. She was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, capri jeans and black shoes. She has a scar on the left side of her face.

No sign yet of missing Marshville teen

May 12--No sign has yet turned up of a 16-year-old girl from Union County who has been missing for three weeks, a sheriff's detective said Monday.

Vasti Colmenares Gutierrez has not been seen since her first or second period classes April 21 at Forest Hills High School in Monroe. And investigators have not been able to identify the ex-boyfriend who they believe is the key to finding her: a Hispanic man, about 23 years old and from Marshville, who goes by the name Dejuan Bennett, or possibly Juan Carlos. Those names could be aliases, according to the Union County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities believe Gutierrez either is with Bennett, or he may know where she is, said sheriff's Detective Robert Rollins.

Authorities have been tipped to numerous possible sightings, but none has panned out, Rollins said. Investigators searched for possible leads by going through Gutierrez's cell phone records, but the phone hasn't been used since the day she disappeared, Rollins said.

Faith, I looked and she's still listed on several sites/blogs etc but none that I found that was updated. The link I included in my last post was for the entire state of NC. I may have overlooked her name on the list and wanted one of you to verify if she is still listed. Thanks
